This poetry collection includes poems Amanda Leigh wrote after her hospital stay in December 2012. They are not pretty, fluffy pieces. They are sometimes graphic, sometimes silly, but they are real. These are some of the things Amanda was feeling then. She felt that it was important to get these real and raw thoughts out there. She wanted to keep the “loopy” quality of the poems; as they came from her head straight after she got home. She felt that they showed the state of her mind at the time better that way. While it is a different experience for everyone, it rarely discussed what staying in a hospital can actually be like. This is her experience.
Praise for Holiday Hospital Stay:
I received this book as a first read, and won it on this website, as a free copy. I was truly inspired by this collection of poems. I found them to be very relatable and very understanding. I was able to laugh a little and it definitely is a thinker. I think the author was very good at expressing the emotions she was going through during the time of writing this collection. I would recommend this book as a inspirational and easy read to those who are looking to brighten their day and experience the true feeling of what it must be like to live a day in the life of the author during a dark time in her life. I would love to read more books from this author. ~ Rhonda Mills, GoodReads reviewer
